COC Amsterdam Advocacy
COC Amsterdam e.o. puts sexual and gender diversity, on the agenda with the municipality, city districts and organizations. In this way we try to influence policy and its implementation. Every day there are great volunteers working in these fields to make this happen. We celebrate successes and wrack our brains about the right way forward when it comes to long-term goals. Sometimes the will is there, but we need to look for (more) opportunities. In practice, there are often opportunities (and will), but the question is "how. COC Amsterdam e.o. encourages everyone to stand up for themselves and each other. In policy rooms, at (festive) events, in your social environment, your neighborhood and on the streets. We are always open to creative ideas to convey the feeling we want to convey in a respectful and original way. So feel free to write to us with your idea in the making (or outlined master plan).
At municipal and organizational level, among others, COC Amsterdam e.o. is active to get sexual and gender diversity on the agenda or keep it there. This to make policy makers, administrators and civil society aware of specific needs of lhbtqia+, for example in the areas of Care & Welfare, Seniors and Meeting & Empowerment. We do this, in municipal consultations, for example in the field of safety we participate in the working group Faith & Philosophy and we work together with Amsterdam and National organizations, associations and foundations on empowerment of the lhbtqia+ community. We encourage the Amsterdam community on an activist, commercial and political level. Never hesitate to bring your needs, ideas or questions to us. Sometimes we have it on the agenda before, but it might just as well be a spark that gives us an idea. And opens a new door.
