Het woord “cocktail” in de titel staat natuurlijk niet voor de lekkere alcoholische versnaperingen, maar de benaming van een van onze projecten die LHBT-asielzoekers en Nederlandse LHBT-ers in contact met elkaar brengt. Vorige maand gingen ze naar de bekende Amsterdamse trekpleister: Artis. Wie kunnen we nu beter het woord geven dan aan een van hen?
A lettre from the zoo
Long time ago when I came out of the closet and I told my family about my sexual orientation, one of the very helpful reasons that immediately helped for them to accept me were scientific reasons. Mainly, because homosexuality among animals is a very logic fact that can show that this topic is quite natural and normal. Especially when you look at the members of several animal groups on how they treat their own homosexual members. And now today I still get the help from mother nature when I want to say something to defend homosexual rights 😉
Since my stay here in Amsterdam I didn’t have the chance yet to meet COC Amsterdam and the nice people who work there. Recently, I’ve met them and I try now to do my best to participate in most of the events, because the focus is mainly about cultural aspect of the Dutch society. So, the idea of planning a zoo tour guide specifically on homosexuality in the animal kingdom was for me a very fantastic (wow) idea. Of course, I was there at the Artis Zoo and as I thought before it was so interesting, with such a warm group, with friends I already know and of course with the chance of meeting new people, which is always nice.
Again, thank you COC Amsterdam team Cocktail Events for a well-organized event. I hope to see you soon in another enjoying event.
